About Frutescens

Capsicum frutescens is a chili pepper variety known for its ellipsoid-conical pods that grow in groups. It is native to south Mexico and tropical America. Also, their flowers bloom between August in September, at the cooler end of summer. The pepper species is known for having a dry, smoky flavor. One relevant pepper from this classification is the Tabasco pepper, which is widely consumed for its moderate spice addition to wings and other dishes.

History

The Capsicum frutescens originated in Mexico and Central America, but was also cultivated in the Ethiopia and India regions. In Europe, it was domesticated as an ornamental plant but was later utilized for culinary purposes as a spice.
